Oil. I was going to use a model but I was too anxious to start the painting so I used myself. I incorporate Pueblo pots in many of my still lifes and always wanted to incorporate a figure of some sort. I remember seeing The Water Seller by Diego Velazquez in 1982 in London so that was the initial inspiration for this painting.
