This is a Mixed Media self-portrait painting based on Auguste Rodin's St. John the Baptist. The work consists of: Acrylic, Oil, on a collage of book pages and paper from bodega flowers, with crushed charcoal dust on stretched canvas. The RESIST PORTRAIT Series, is the result of asking what do we value and what matters to us. With figuration as the foundation, the work is a marker for the effort in striving to rip apart false facades or share how the world could be if we open our hearts and minds to possibility. The intention is to create work that allows space for thoughtful and challenging moments or a pause for beauty and fellowship in dark times.
