Calling Up the Tunes

To me, one of the toughest challenges in painting is the self-portrait. This one was done as a self-test of what I've learned the past couple years in the classical realism drawing and painting studies I've undertaken in a group setting under Joe Kronenberg here in Idaho.

It also represents my two passions - painting and playing music! In both cases, I work to become less conscious of what I'm doing, and allow the paint and the notes to flow unhindered by my interference....a lifelong challenge in any medium!
