My self portrait was inspired by 17th century Dutch portraiture, in its use of a compressed palette, detail, pose, and damask fabric background. I wanted to put a modern twist on the subject matter so wore my contemporary jewelry and clothing. I was hoping to reveal a bit about myself as a confident, woman, painter.
