Forty

For the last several years I’ve made it a point to paint a yearly self portrait. This was done as both an exploration of the aging process, as well as to see how the years reflect my handling of the technical aspects of painting. The paintings are always done with the goal of achieving not only a likeness, but a feeling of honesty and a sense of raw immediacy. This particular piece was painted on a small 7” x 5” wood panel with a gray scale palette.
