Fingerprints

I created this self-portrait using an ink pad, similar to the ones used to identify and catalogue people in an official capacity. The act of gathering fingerprints to be stored in a large data base is impersonal and dehumanizing. Conversely, using my own fingerprints to describe my physical form becomes uniquely my own expression of myself.
