Arboreal Ancestors

Arboreal Ancestors is the second in this series (starting with Blessings Beyond Our Energy Centers) of self-portraits where I am sharing my mental understanding and somatic experiences as a self-discovery process and returning back to my first painting subject love: the human figure. I continued this series, with this painting, when I began meditating under a tree in my local neighborhood. This tree is represented in painting, where my human heart center and her tree heart center are overlapping. She (the tree) has been a trusty ally in staying grounded and calm during shut-downs for COVID19 and all the other dramatic events going on in our world these days! Another of the blessings from the pandemic has been the centering of my meditation practice, particularly in conjunction with my painting practice!
